Cadair Idris (The Chair of Idris) with its hidden lake Llyn Cau (The Closed Lake) makes a great mountain day in North Wales – there is even a stone hut on the summit if the weather is bad. But beware, for it is said that anyone who spends the night on the summit will become a madman or a poet!

If you like any of the images, feel free to share or use – just give me a mention, that would be cool.
I've been mucking about in the mountains for longer than I care to mention. I started out by walking my local hills, then went on to rock climbing, mountaineering and skiing. Still doing it, and still getting a buzz. I'm now sharing the fun, through my guided walking business (Hillcraft Guided Walking) and by writing routes for other publishers, mainly Walking World and Discovery Walking Guides. Just to make sure I keep really busy, I am also currently a member of my local mountain rescue team.
I can’t remember much about the hill now as it’s years since I was there – beautiful photos of it. On your second photo, is that a path or route going up the grassy section between the 2 summits up the cwm wall?
Yep, in fact the lower part of that route is clearly shown on the OS 25k map. I’ve never been on it, but I’ve seen others having a go – it looks steep and loose 🙁

I thought I remembered something about that route. Steep and loose is not my favourite thing!
Brilliant Paul mate, as always ✊✊
Cheers mate, and good to hear from you – hope you’re keeping well 🙂
